The Fresh Squeezed Opera Company is delighted to perform Baby Shower for its summer 2015 production, an opera by Bruce Trinkley and Jason Charnesky. A window into the comedy and drama of bringing a baby into the world, Baby Shower has something for everyone! The opera offers a unique experience of a 10-person all female cast, ranging from contralto to coloratura.

“Baby Shower depicts a contemporary American celebration with some very recognizable family members and friends, all of whom have a back story that is revealed during the lead-up to the arrival of the guests, in the interchange between the participants and in the aftermath of the out-of-control proceedings. But what can be mended among family and friends is achieved by the inspiring lyrical ending to this comic romp through the incivilities in human relationships." Bruce Trinkley, composer.

See it June 19, 21 and 22, 2015 at the New York Theater Workshop!

15.Apr.2014The Ariadne Project

Rachel has joined the talented cast of Ariadne auf Naxos. She will be covering the role of Dryad in this semi-staged, concert version. Ariadne auf Naxos is one of the most beloved operas by Richard Strauss. The plot of the opera focuses on the juxtaposition of serious, "high art" versus comedic "low art." These two opposing styles end up colliding onstage in very humorous and meaningful ways.
Performances will take place in August 2014 in New York City. More details to come...

2014 marks what would have been Strauss' 150th Birthday. The singers and musicians involved in this project wish to present this piece in celebration of this anniversary. The mission of the Ariadne Project is to give talented artists the opportunity to perform in a full "pop-up" opera with orchestra for and funded by the general public of a major city. This is (to our knowledge) the first independently-produced, one-off, crowd-funded opera in NYC. The money raised for this production will go directly to funding the production itself. If this production model succeeds, it will be a new way for artists to interact with the community and may help to save the wonderful art form of opera from going extinct.

I am a little late on this one....

I am THRILLED to announce that Juventas New Music Ensemble's premiere production Light & Power is the winner of The American Prize in Opera Performance, 2012—Professional Division.
Creating and performing the role of Henry Ford among such an esteemed group of colleagues was such an exhilarating experience.
Congratulations to the entire cast, production team, creative team and orchestra. I'd like to give a special thanks to composer Isaac Schankler and librettist Jullian Burcar for writing such a beautiful and creative piece; and to our stage directors Roxanna Myhrum, Erin Huelskamp and music director Lidiya Yankovskaya -- without the five of you, none of this would have been possible.
