Ariadne auf Naxos (CANCELED)

23.Aug.2014

New York, NY

Role: Dryade (cover)
Company: The Ariadne Project

THIS PRODUCTION HAS BEEN CANCELED.

Ariadne auf Naxos is one of the most beloved operas by Richard Strauss. The plot of the opera focuses on the juxtaposition of serious, "high art" versus comedic "low art." These two opposing styles end up colliding onstage in very humorous and meaningful ways. 2014 marks what would have been Strauss' 150th Birthday. The singers and musicians involved in this project wish to present this piece in celebration of this anniversary. This is The Ariadne Project's inaugural production. Their mission is to give talented artists the opportunity to perform in a full "pop-up" opera with orchestra for and funded by the general public of a major city. The money raised for this production will go directly to funding the production itself. If this production model succeeds, it will be a new way for artists to interact with the community and may help to save the wonderful art form of opera from going extinct.
